Why doesn't my Delta 44 work throughmy computer's speakers? Is it becasue the speakers are plugged into the computer's on-board soundcard, and Delta is bypassing that altogether? Not a huge deal, as I have two near field monitors on the way, and I'll run them out of the break-out box....still, would like to know why.

Also, in Control Panel, I have three choices as to which setting I want for audio and recording:

M Audio Delta 44 Multichannel
" " " " 1/2
" " " " 3/4

Which one do I choose?

Finally, the two near filed monitors I have coming have RCA inputs. Is there such a thing as a 1/4 plug (for the Delta) with two RCA jacks at the other end?

You guys are great....keep the advice coming.

Yes! Connect the speakers to the Delta.

Multichannel-drivers are normaly for games and DVD-players that got an option for surround or multi-speaker out (I think). I don't know about the Delta, but with my Inca88 I record with 1/2 , 3/4 and so on...

Yes! It's time to go capleshopping (wich I always enjoy). Have fun! :D

Hope this helps...

Also-if I am correct, it sounds like you are wanting a RCA cables that have a 'Y' end, but what you really should be looking at is getting 2 separate cables with individual adapters...you will want 2 separate lines from your Delta to the speakers. (These come from the OUT 1,2 of the Delta.

You will like the 44, I have one myself.

Microchip, ?

Microchip, do you mean that the left and right monitors should have there own outputs from the break-out box? I guess that makes sense of course, but how do you make sure you don't get a false sense of stereo?

In other words, if you route one track to Output #1, and another to Output #2, they could both be panned right or left...what procedure do you use?

John,

Hi again.

If I am correct, the outs on the Delta are each mono, so I don't think you would get any kind of stereo effect. I think you have to have a Left/Right approach to the outs on the Delta. Look at out 1 as left and 2 as right.

Then, when you do pan, even if just one track, you should be able to hear that in the playback.

I can't go into much more now (at work), but write back and will be more than happy to help some more.

Micro.
