I have recently set up a new PC (1.7 Celeron, 384 mb ram, etc.,).

The soundcard is a Hoontech Soundtrack Audio DSP24 Value, (it is only being used to take a stereo mixdown from my console to the PC). The problem is that when it is turned on and connected up for monitoring, etc., there are faint clicking sounds audible through the nearfields. They also showup faintly if I record supposed silence in either Cool Edit or Waves.

If anyone has any suggestions as to the possible origins, and solutions I would love to hear.

I have exactly the same problem with my 1.8 Athlon with 256 mb ddr.

I have been told that there are conflicts between the Athlon and Celeron processors and motherboards when it comes to audio processing. Not too sure though, I'm no computer genius!

I tried raising my buffers but it made no difference. The popping and crackling is there even when I'm not recording, its there if I have a programme open that recognises the Wave 8/24 interface (Cubase and Soundforge).

I updated my drivers, and again, no change.

I've not really given you a solution, I know, but I have narrowed it down I hope. I still have the problem on my DAW, so if you get any solutions I would love to hear them.

Neil
