Strange alien sound coming from my case

About a week ago, I was getting ready to play my acoustic. So I grabbed the guitar (still in the case), set it up on the couch and then went to find my tuner, etc. I come back and I hear the strangest, sort of singing/warbling sound coming from around the couch.

There's a water pipe that run under the floor there and I thought it was leaking, so I went downstairs to check - nothing was wrong down there and I didn't hear anything.

So I go back up to the couch. The vibro ringing is still there. This has gone on for like 2 or 3 minutes. I sort of gave up on the sound and opened the case.

The sound was coming from the new Planet Waves humidifier I won a couple of weeks ago. When I put the guitar across the couch, it got the humidifier (which hangs between the strings) vibrating! What's funny is not so much that it did that, but how long it kept going on!

Just one of those weird things I wanted to share.

I have absolutely no idea how your going to track that one or what mic to use.:D

I'm pretty sure Edgar Winter used one of those on Frankenstein.

Yee Gads.... I'm starting to get a bout of GAS for a humidifier!

How do you like that humidifier? Worth the purchase?

Given that I got it for free it was worth every cent! Actually, I used to use the style that had a long tube with holes in it and a big piece of plastic that you would have to work between the sound hole and strings - total pain. Plus the tube probably lays against bare wood at some point and might wick water directly on the wood if you were over fill the tube thing.

But this one is great. You fill it with a syringe like once every few weeks (or if it looks dry). It's extremely easy to get in and out. It's not supposed to leak even if you over fill it (I couldn't shake and water out of). It even sings to you

What's not to like!

I"m guessing they go for $20 or less and I'd say it's probably worth it.

Cool, acoustic has become a very important tool in the music my band makes, and I'm looking at a nice Babicz acoustic/electric that I'd clearly want to put great care into keeping it in top shape.

I had my 12 string in the living room, and it literally strummed by itself.
My wife was in the room

She said it wasn't the first time. My son witnessed same thing

Sympathetic vibrations are cool in the right places. I'll hook you in with this one.

And to think I trained making these things that rely on sympathetic vibrations

They all have sympathetic strings designed to resonate.

Last but not least the king of the sympathetic vibrators (good name for a band that), and it was/is the equivalent of today's tenor banjo as an object of ridicule. I give you the Hurdy Gurdy
