i have recently purchased an ibinez sonic overdrive pedal which gives me a great sharp fuzz sound that i like - but it doesn't give me any real uncontrollable, fuzzy feedback...how do i get a real wall of screaming, fuzzy feedback - can i get something like a compressor/sustainer and run it through my sonic overdrive? or is there something obvious i'm not doing?

turn all the knobs on your amp to 11,

if that doesnt work, then add more distortion pedals (or hotter pickups)

I find a wah pedal can help you dial in feedback a little better, just turn it on and leave it towards the treble side of the EQ sweep and you should get howling feedback at much lower volumes than without it.

are you running this into an amp?

....if so just turn it up more (the amp and the pedal) and point the guitar at it!

ha! i have a crappy old morley wah pedal i am not using, i will try it when i get my amp back

thanks

There are cheaper options, but its tough to beat a ZVex Fuzz Facotry for out-of-control disintigrating type feedback sounds.

I've got a weird thing going...I get mondo feedback even a low levels... if I touch the neck of the guitar onto the corner of my cab. Instant howling! It's got some rather hot humbuckers in it though.

where can i get a good cheap compressor that will give me loads of nice, thick (not screechy but fuzzy) feedback when used with a separate overdrive box?

I can get some pretty musical controlled feedback with my PRS/Gibson straight into my Mesa Dual.

Well, real feed back is when the audio out of the speaker hits the pups and causes an a regernerative kind a thing.

The pups are going to be part of the equation, volume of the speaker is going to be another part. What sort of pups are you working with and are you crankin' it? Try standing right in front of the speakers. Hot pups and loud speakers are the formula for wailing feedback.

Maybe I'm missing something here...are you not getting any feed back at all or are you looking for a way to shape the sound of the feedback?

I used to have an old BOSS distortion/feedbacker stomp box, if you held the pedal in the down position it would put the last note(or chord) you played into feedback..... pretty cool at the time

I found one HERE
