okay, ive gotten some help in the guitar department from you guys. but now i need some help with the drums. how do i put drums into my song when i record it? should i use my keyboard? or is that insane? lol i have no idea what im talking about so please help me out!

it's punk rock kind of stuff. like green day...blink 182...stuff like that.

If you can swing a real drumkit, that would be best, imo. You can use some pretty guerilla miking techniques and stuff to maintain a raw sound for punk. Unfortunately, lots of the drum sounds on commercial pop-punk has probably been replaced with programs like drumagog. If real drums are a problem, look into hardware or software drum machines (drumkit from hell, bfd, etc.) until you can get a drummer.

Why not try programming some really industrial sounding, synth drums to try for a new sound? It sounds like you've never programmed drums so it might be hard to try and get a "real" sound.

yeah, my sister plays the drums and has a drum set. but how much do you think computer software for drums would cost me?

Well, somthing like Drumsite costs around $50. The samples are decent, but there aren't very many of them. Drumkit from Hell and BFD run in the $200-300 range, I think.

The software itself is fairly simple, but the sample libraries are the costly part.

You could also look into loops or web-based drum services like Drums on Demand.
