Hey all, I use a Tascam DP-02. I just upgraded 2 days ago from a fostex, and on my fostex I never used 'stereo mixing.' I have no clue what it is. From what it sounds like, or what I assume it is anyways(please correct me if I'm wrong). Making it a stereo mix allows it go out out the Left AND Right speaker. I say this because when I first tried out the Tascam, (with my headphones) I only got sound threw 1 or the other speaker. Also, I'm assuming stereo is referred as monitoring? So you can hear all the Eqs and what not. Someone PLEASE guide me in the right path as I can only get 1 speaker to work. If I need to get a stereo any information on a decent one is greatly appreciated!

Stereo is the difference between left and right.

Mono is "1" -- In the case of a left speaker and a right speaker (a typical "stereo" listening system), mono would be identical information coming from both speakers.

Stereo is "2" -- Feed a mono signal into something expecting a stereo (or dual-mono) signal and you get something on one side.
