OK, this is probably a simple/dumb question but.............
I have songs mixed to my liking on a Fostex DMT-8. I have a CD burner on a PC. In the past i've tried to connect RCA into the Line-in of the PC, but the result is always in Mono.
Would a soundcard with 2 RCA connections (L and R) result in stereo sound?
Are the soundcards that come with average PC's any good for this task or should i get an after market?

Any suggestions?

As long as you were connecting to the line in and not the mic in, you should be OK. You most likely didn't get the right adapter. Does the 1/8 inch jack have 1 black ring or 2? If it has 1 black ring, that is a 'Y' adapter and not what you want.
Generally, built in sound cards really suck, but will normally get the job done if all you want to do is transfer stuff. You will have to listen and see if the quality is to your liking.

I'll take a look when i get home, but i think it is a Y adapter. What are the ones with two rings called?

An 'rca to stereo mini-plug' adapter. If that still doesn't solve the problem, then it is your soundcard.

Yeah, I think it's the sound card. I'm using an RCA male(I think, has the 'dick' part) that turns into a 1/8" (like discman/walkman headphones) and it has two black lines on it.
any suggestions on soundcards under 100 dollars?

Thanks for you help and sorry for the lame technical lingo

Are there TWO RCA males on the end going to your Fostex? One going into the Left out, and the other going into the Right out? You are correct about the d*ck thing :)
