Hey everyone, I have recently been learning how to pan in the stereo field and could use some suggestions. I have posted my song "All Your Friends" and "Flatline" on www.mp3.com/glikk. I would appreciate suggestions on the way that these two songs are panned. Do they sound a little too spacious? Not panned enough? Any suggestions on stereo techniques would be great.

Well hell..........I just noticed one of my 'puter speakers is out. It must have just gone out but it means I can't give you panning info.....sorry; someone will be around to help. Meanwhile...I've gotta go fix my speaker. :(

BTW......I like the tunes.....I'll be back in a day or so when I get this straightened out.

is it just me or you actually panned everything left?

I am no expert, but a good way to start is to draw a picture where every player is on the stage with the vocal, bass player, and drummer dead center, then pan their instruments accordingly. Of course, panning can get trciker than that...

For example, snare&kick dead center, pan high hats, rides/crash from the audience's perspective, or drummer's.

GOod luck

One panning comment...

It seemed like the main rhythm guitar was panned a bit too much. It's the dominant instrument of the song and it comes really heavily out of the left side. It think it can be panned, just not so drastically.

The song is actually panned with two mains. One is all the way to the left, and the other is delayed just slightly and all the way to the right. I guess it does give the feeling that the source of the sound is only on the left. Interesting...
