Need help! Before I go out and buy another expensive mic I would like to know about stereo miking. Im recording an acoustic guitar and would like to know is the stereo effect that good. Cant I get the same effect another way. If not would I be able to do a good job with two different model condensers such as the AKG 414 and the nuemann TLM 193.

A true stereo recording would be achieved by using 2 mics placed in different locations recording the instrument simultaneously

Not at all the case. Some stereo micing techniques use spaced pairs, but many stereo micing techniques which use coincident micing patterns. Also, just because you are using two mics, it does no mean that you are micing in stereo. If you want to get some stereo micing ideas, go to the DPA website. They have a section on stereo micing which is excellent.
