Hey People,

I'm a total beginner to recording. I want to buy a recorder and a mixer or a recorder/mixer that I can record onto and some software that allows me to manipulate the sound. I think. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit about my options in the world of software, and perhaps advise me on how to choose a recording device.
 
Ask your question on the newbie board, or better yet, search the archives of that board. Your question has been answered there many times.

I don't mean to be rude, it's just that in reading the newbie board, you'll get answers to not only the question you asked, but for a lot of questions you didn't even know to ask.
