If anyone has any experience with this program id like to know about it. I use the computer to do a few things but in general Im new to the whole computer based production thing. Ive been burning recordings at a freinds house but Ill be getting a nice CD-RW soon and Id like a good editing and mastering program to go with it.

Also what would be the needs in terms of a sound card?

I noticed on thier website one of the requirements is a host application like cubase VST. I have no intrest in that. I hope thiers ways around it since its wasting money.
Does anyone know of other great mastering software?

Well, if you look long enough around the Steinberg site, you will find a link to a skin that will allow you to use their VST plugins as Direct X plugins.

Steinberg offers many of the same plugins for PC that were native to ProTools. I doubt that you will find better than their best.

I heard about that. But does it work just as good as a real Direct-X plug-in? I have no clue.

I'm only interested because Apogee's Master Tools is only VST right now. I've heard Steinberg is suppose to come-out with the Direct-X versioin soon; but I've been hearing that ever since Steinberg got the license for it. Although, I just recently asked in the rec.audio.pro newsgroup if anyone had heard anything lately and one guy responded saying it is in operational testing/reviewing right now and he and his studio is one of the test sites.

I'll probably just wait till it comes out anyway since my funds are focusing on other equipment right now and for a while.
