My 424 mk1 has developed a problem that's driving me mad. During playback (in the cue mix) and mixdown (to 2-track) it's generating a faint, random clicking noise. This noise is not on the 4-track tape itself, but it does get recorded to my 2-track mixdown tape. I also hear it in the cue mix while I'm tracking. I'm recording without DBX and clean and demagnetize fairly regularly. Has anyone encountered this? Is my trusty old 424 shot?
