During the state of the union speech I noticed that the standard duel 57's weren't in place so I'm wondering if even though there was a wind screen on the single microphone being used can anyone successfully identify that microphone being used.

My guess is it was a Shure VP64

The union wants their own state? Did the history books lie about the confederates? I've always wondered how Gettysburg is in Pennsylvania, not Georgia.

Looks like a good guess. Shure VP64a. At least it's american made (or at least an american owned company). Seems to MSRP near $100, how much you wanna bet the .gov paid $1,000 for it?

They probably bought it from a congressman's uncle's son for $15,000

Lots of changes in the country with this administration.

And then again, some things never change.

Damn!
I missed another state of the union speech....bummer....

Still looking for a definitive answer. Is there a site that can be visited that would give the answer as to what microphone was used?

I missed the speech as well Miro. Just had seen enough to say ... now what microphone do we have here?

What? And let the Chinese know what mics to put more lead on / into? As I wonder if the VP64 is RoHS compliant?

You could always shoot a question off to whitehouse.gov and ask them. Not that you'll like being on their watchdog lists for the rest of your life. (who is that guy, why does he want to know THAT?). Trying not to spin the TSA, is that a microphone in your pocket or are you happy to.....

Yes I guess that the microphone in use would be held as a national secret :D now that the cat got let out of the bag with the 57s :laughings:
