Just getting ready to enter the world of computer recording.Bought n-tracks & e-mu 0404 sound card. Also bought an extra 80 gb hard drive. My question is, should i install the n-tracks & e-mu to the new harddrive, or to my computers original 19gb drive and use the new drive for playback only.?Any and all suggestions welcome.

Welcome to the computer recording world!

Good choice on software - heard good things about it in here. The new EMU stuff is getting decent press too.

As far as configuration, I'm running my OS, recording software and have the drivers installed on one drive, and am using a second drive for only audio. This seems to be a good way to do things - at least for me. I bet the 19 gig drive is getting full? Or do you have some room on it?

What kind of system do you currently have? This will assist in giving you some performance/set up tips.

I've got about 76% of the 19gb drive left.(had it wiped last month) System specs are,pent.3, 799 MHz. 384 Mb. Ram.Does this help? Love this site.

ouch...pc is a little weak. Honestly anything less than 1 ghz and 512 RAM is gonna be SLOW! get ready to build a new one! $$$$$$$$

oh, new to recording? $$$$$

did i mention $$$$?
