I had a Boss BR864 for about a year and a half and it crapped out on me. I just bought a Fostex MR8 and it is very hard to use and will not export to my comp. I am considering forgoing these types of consoles and trying a recording software preogram. My question is what else do i need? It seems like there should be some sort of adapter or something that i would need to use. Do I just use the mic out and put in a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter and then an 1/4" to xlr adapter to plug in a mic? Also it seems like the programs i looked at were just too good to be true. Cakewalk Soinar Home Edition was only $75. I spent $400 on my BR864 that seems like it did about the same thing. I'm just confused. What am i missing? It would help if you could list everything i will need to get started. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks.
