I need some input on hardware/software for home recording. I currently have an ADAT and Yamaha ProMix01 in my computer/jamming room. I recently moved and they aren’t hooked up yet because I am trying to find a new way of doing things. I have found it increasingly hard to just go in to the studio when I have an idea and just sit down and record. I am looking for an easier faster way. Before I moved, when I would get an inspiration, by the time I got in to the recording room and turned everything on and got hooked up and ready, the idea was gone or had morphed in to something that didn’t sound like the original idea. I am considering scrapping my old stuff and buying something more all inclusive. I would use it mostly to record by myself, doing one instrument at a time. I need it to be easy to just jump in and get the idea down and also, to go back and actually record the song. I’d like to go from idea, to a finished CD.
I am hoping to keep the price under $1500.What hardware/software combination do you recommend? Should I keep any of my old stuff to use along with any new stuff? Thanks in advance.
