I am new to recording. I had a Zoom R16, but never figured out latency issues with Logic and my Mac. I decided to sell it and buy a Duet. I wanted a Duet2, but mistakenly bought a Duet1 (new) on auction.

I was thinking of selling the Duet1, which is new in sealed box, and buying a Duet2. Besides the cost and hassle, is there any reason to use a Duet1 over a Duet2 as far as sound quality / reliability / ease of use etc. Honestly, I think the OLEDs look cool but I don't think I will see differences with the firewire vs USB thing. I want to record audio, piano, electric, and acoustic guitar. I just want something quick and easy to use, and the Duet seems to fit that bill for Mac users.

Sell the Duet and buy a Sound Devices USBPre 2. Two channel, better pres, awesome meters, no software switches, and built like a tank. Works with iPad, Mac, and PC compats. It'll even work without a computer as a field mixer for use with a camcorder.
