Ok, this is not a mix yet, just a push mix of the tracking. There are some samples yet that have to go into the solo section. This will be updated in a couple days.

Jake,

You and Ed have really come up with a great tune here!

It's got tons of anger and raw energy and is slicker then a Haliburton oil executive. :cool:

Seeing as this is a scratch mix, I can't tell you that the drums sound washed out and a bit too far back in the mix or that the vocals need a bit of 4Khz presence boost to increase the great lyrical content so pretend I kept my mouth shut.

Let us know when the final is ready!

What you are hearing is the distant room mic too loud in the mix.

I really like the Song . . . The Vocals have Raw Emotion to Me !! Will look forward to the final mix.
 
Did you find the samples you wanted for the solo yet? I already commented on this when you posted it in the cave. I want to hear the finished product, so get off your ass and finish it already!
 
Interesting stuff! You're onto something.

The soft vocals are a little too lifeless at times, in my opinion. But that's my only complaint. Cool song.

We are still in the vocal tracking stage of five more songs. We will go into full mix in a couple/few weeks. Hang tight, I will post it with a sample when we get a good one. If anyone wants to contribute a Montel sample we will be that much closer hehe.

I am looking for one of those scenes where montel is being ultra sensetive, you know how his voice gets all soft and he trys to get people to cry or break down? Some blubbering or sobbing would be good in the scene.

Anyway, I see why you thought my piece was a 'sonic mess' (never gonna let you live that one down). My only criticism is that this is so clean it's sterile. So much can be said for unadulterated feedback! :cool:

I like the diametrically opposed vocals. I dig the lyrics as well... I undertsand EXACTLY what you're saying ;).

Musically the odd chord structures and twangy lead at the end definitely work. It may be a little too up-tempo for the lyrics, but sometimes opposties in that context can be fun (like putting a badger and mime in the same room for example).

You definitely understand your recording principles, maybe TOO well. Sounds like you wanted to let your hair down but were afraid of what people would think.
 
Hmm... I wasn't 'picking' on anyone. In case you haven't noticed, the forum is a pretty relaxed place and we enjoy busting a ball every now and then. ;)

Sorry if I hit a nerve. I see what you're saying. Good luck with the mix.
 
if you're so sensitive about the mix, then you should have waited to post it..

the vocals sound too close in the heavier part compared to the dull sounding drums..

I like the song..

Well, last night were my first MP3 clinic listens in about a year I think, so it wasn't ME doing all the premature fussing.

I think BSabbath (good to see you're still around bro :) ) hit the nail on the head -- maybe you should wait until that final mix is done before posting -- you're essentially asking how to the cookies taste by having us test the dough.

Hehe, calm down everyone. This is all just a big publicity stunt. We plan on amazing all of you with the before and after mixes a bit later on. It's gonna be fun, let's all just watch and learn, I am.
 
This is the section of the forum to receive feedback on recordings, why else post something here?

The dough isn't bad, but I like my cookies better when baked so I'll be back for a taste then.
