I am getting a pair of Event 20/20s. I need to get some stands so that they will be stable and so the monitors will stand at ear level while I am sitting. Any suggestions??

Yo Small Chip:

You can check out the Full Compass catalog; they have a ton of stuff including stands. If you don't have a FC compass, you can get them on the net and ask for one or call their 800 number, which happens to be: 800.356.5844. I do believe other vendors like AMS and Musician's Friend have stands for speakers. But, I think the biggest selection would be from FC.

Have fun shopping.
Green Hornet:D :D :p

I agree w/full compass. They have TONS more than any other catalogue I know of. Buyer beware though as much of their stuff is demo and b-stock.

My console faces a wall..

Heres what I did,

I went to Home Depot and had them cut 2 - 1/2" thick pieces of MDL (Maximum density Lumber) the exact size of the bottom of my speaker...

I achored both "shelves" on the wall with 2 "L" Brackets under each one... My speakers sit on a piece of thin foam rubber.. (optional) on these shelves..

Shelves are painted the wall colour and the brackets are White (to match trim and doors in the room)

Used left over paint...

Total Project cost...
$7.00

Just as good as any stand..... (Remember, that you need something like a wall to mount it to....)

Keep in mind when buying these small yet perhaps expensive items that,
You can buy an SM57 and make the stands I explained above, for the price of the "Storebought" stands..

Then you'll have good sturdy stands and a nice mic :) Everyone can use another SM57 :D

(At least thats the mindset I used, when I was in the market for stands and the ones I was looking was $89.99)

I agree...build em and...

"My speakers sit on a piece of thin foam rubber.. (optional) on these shelves.."

...make sure you use the foam rubber or neoprene. You don't want the comb filter effect caused by a cabinet sitting directly on a hard surface.

I saw some stands at Mars for like $60 each that consisted of nothing more than 2 4' sections of painted 4x4 with maybe 18" square pieces of 3/4" painted plywood screwed on the top and bottom. I donno if I would use them if you have little rugrats running around however....

You may want to opt for the shelf approach like VOX did...

I did the same. :D Those rugrats are monitor killers!! ;)

Empty Beer Cases Strategically stacked make good stands also....

Has to be Canadian though.... All the water in American beer makes the boxes weak and prone to colapse

:D

I bought 4 mouse pads and stacked 2 under each speaker (can you say ghetto? hehe). most mouse pads are made of neoprene. i had problems with my speakers vibrating the table they sit on.

i plan on getting some nice stands as soon as i can get my MACKIES!
