Hey guys!

Here’s a song I’ve been messing with for a while. It still needs something in the “solo” spot and I’m still not sure if it’s going to be a lead guitar line or perhaps some rappy-like thing.

In any case, I’d lot to hear what people thought of this in general. I have a few things I manage to always screw up:

1. Low end - It’s always too flabby or too empty
2. Muddy - I feel like all my damn songs are muddy as hell, but when I pull it out, I feel like everything goes too thin
3. Sibilance - Lead vocal always seems too sibilant or not crisp enough.

Oh… I also feel like I may need to tune the lead vocal a bit. I can’t tell if I’m nuts of if it does sound off in various places (I suck at singing).

Any advice here would be awesome.

Thanks!

listening as i type... this is good. definitely a solid start for sure. You have a Rob Thomas-like quality to your timbre..very cool. i hear no sibilance that sticks out. it seems very loud, maybe compressed too much as well. guitars sound great...background vocals and the delays work well. this is great man. clear, everything has its place. i'd let the end ring out a bit more. maybe with a breath or ringing tom or cymbal for a short few seconds.

I agree with the above--overcompressed. It's given it a harsh sound that is contrary to the vibe of the song. It's affecting the whole mix, but is especially noticeable on the lead vocal. Really good performances and composition. Like the way you mixed the harmony vocals. I think the whole thing probably sounded better in the mix, then got mangled when you mastered it.

I think the loudness might have been overdone but everything sounds great besides. Awesome vocals man.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm currently making some tweaks and will repost when I've adequately mangled it more.

As always, thanks for taking the time to listen and reply.
