Hello everyone,
I just got a fostex D1624 HD recorder. Partly because of my dislike of the whole windows recording scene. Previously, I was using Samplitude studio V5.33 and Lucid AD9624 and DA boxes for conversion. The sound was OK, but something was missing.
Now, I use the AD9624 with the D1624 and playback via it's on board D/A's into the mixer. Yeah! Noticeably better sound. More focused, smoother, and mono signals don't seem to lose their clarity when panned in the center.
I think it shows that even with good conversion, the operating system/software for a digital platform does have an effect. Perhaps the DSP in Samplitude is weak? I don't know. Anyone else experienced what I have?
