squeaking 424

I just got my 424 back from my... ex... friend. Anyways. I've noticed a loud squeaking sound coming from the pinch roller... presumably from the pinch roller and capstan shaft rubbing against eachother. i've been cleaning it with rubber cleaner. do i need to clean it dry, use more cleaner.. what? okay. thanks.

Could be lubrication issue with the pinch roller assembly. How old is the machine?

Did your friend have any mice in his house?

It could also be a loose controll belt inside that is doing the squeaking. They wear out and start slipping.
