So my studio space is almost perfectly square, which I know isn't ideal for acoustics. But it did have me thinking, since I can't set up speakers to fire down the long dimension of the room (there is no 'long' direction) does the option of setting up my desk in the corner now open up -- the room will be symmetrical, which makes me think this might be a less terrible option.
Or is there some secret algorithm that precludes this from ever happening!? ;)

Putting your monitors/desk in the corner is bad idea.

All the modal resonances of the room end up in the corners, so if you put your desk there, you'd get an incredibly bad frequency response from your monitors.

Not to mention the fact that your room is a square... an acoustical nightmare right from the get go!

I will agree that this is typically true, but not always. Especially if very thick absorption were employed in the front corner, it has a chance of sounding good (it just isn't usual)

I always suggest people try experiments though, as every room is different!

My first desk design was built for corners but it worked well about anywhere.

$80DeskReduced (800x573).webp
