Hello,

I have an 80 minute mix CD with about 20 songs on it that I have made using CEP 2.0. As it is now it is just one long track. I would like to be able to split it up into seperate tracks so that the listener can skip to whichever song they would like to hear while still retaining the flow of the mix if they choose to listen to it straight through (in otherwords no space between tracks). Is there a way to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance.

sorry not sure if my question was clear enough...i should've probably split it up into 2 seperate questions...

first i would like to know, if possible, how to take a mixdown and split it up into seperate tracks so that when put into a CD player one can move to different parts of the CD.

second, if the first question is a possibility, will this affect the way the mix sounds if listened straight through? and of course if i can make it so it does not...

thanks again...

Well, one way I can think to do this would be to go into your file in the Edit View mode for CEP and cut it in between each song. Then, save each piece as individual tracks. When burning to CD, your burning software should have an option to "remove silence between tracks" or something to that effect. Let me know if you need any clarification.

I cant remember if CEP 2.0 has the CD burning software built in. I have done this with AA but not sure about CEP2.0. I did it like Aaroncomp said. I just moved my cursor several mins into the track, right click, split. then move the rest of the track down to track 2. Then several mins into it again and right click, split....and so on. then save all the tracks. Then, when you are ready to burn the disk, select the option to remove silence between tracks. It will probably be in an Options or Tools tab of your burning software. If you have CEP burning plug-in, just right click on the any track other than the first one, in your CD project view and choose track properties. you should see from there what to do (be sure to check "same for all tracks").

I would cut all the tracks up in CE

then in nero burn the tracks with no spaces.

Like others have said, use a audio editing program to cut and paste individual tracks into NEW files then save them as seperate tracks ie Track01, Track 02, etc. to keep from getting confused. I do this with my hour long DJ mixes.

I have Nero 6.0 and it lets me adjust if there is a gap between tracks.

Nero has a wave editor that you can put down track splits. Drag and drop the whole track into compile window in nero(full view). Click on the edit button. Click in the song where you want to split it, then go to edit, insert track split. Save and your done

There is a very easy way to do this in Cool Edit and Adobe Audition using the cue list.

Just add a cue at the beginning and end of each song or section break (including the beginning of the first song and the end of the last).

In the cue list hilight all these cues and select "merge". That will shorten the list by one and set up each section with the actual length.

Still in the cue list, hilight everything again and select "batch". This will save each section as a seperate track to your hard disk.

If you burn these to CD with no break between them, it will come out exactly the same as the original with selectable tracks.

Good luck
Erich
