Spiltting Tracks on the way in...

Let's say I'm micing an amp AND running a line direct in from a guitar processor. I'd like for for the amp to be on one track and the direct signal to be on a second track.
How do I set this up? I'm using Power Tracks 8 and a C-Port.

I don't have either of the specific tools you are using but...

First I assume you have a mic preamp for the mic that is giving you a line-level signal to patch into the computer.

Next I assume the C-Port has at least two line-level inputs that can be assigned individually to individual tracks in PowerTracks.

Use one line input for the direct signal, and the other for the signal from the mic preamp.

Set up two audio tracks, one whose source is the input corresponding to the direct signal, the other whose source is the input corresponding to the miced signal.

Arm both for recording.

Hit record and play.

That should be all there is to it.
