I'm figuring it's a long shot that this or something similar has happened to anybody...but let's just imagine it did and you're a 4-track veteran or something...what would you do to fix it?

For about an hour the machine would play a couple seconds or tape and then freeze. Now it is frozen and the tape is locked in there...dammit this is awful. Anybody got some advice?

The Fostex instruction manual has a lot to say about pouring liquids into the X-26! The advice is to take it to a Service Centre. Probably the best idea in the circumstances.

You did not mention if it was Indian , China, Green or Chamomile.

How about the amount of sugar? If you had a lot in the cup it may have dried, crystallized and locked the thing up, perhaps? I know it happens in jam lids a lot. Unfortunately, the only way I know of to deal with that is to run the jar under warm water. Works great, but probably isn't a good idea in your case.:(

I'd second the service center for cleaning, damage control and whatnot.

Woe

Yep, thanks a lot. This thing is completely shot...I'm gonna just worry about how to pry the tape outta there at this point.

if you really need to strip it, take photos while you do it,it helps when you put it back together..

You'll need to take the unit apart... at least remove the plastic upper and lower, and then poor distilled water over it. It has to be distilled and not just tap water. You can buy it in gallon size at the grocery store. Let it dry for a couple days in front of a fan or near a heating vent if your heat is running already.

He spilled tea on it. I say it's toast.............

Get it?

Do Starbucks sell beer - it would be better than their coffee.

I came across an electronic organ that had a pint tipped down its insides, didn't make any difference to it working!! Pedals stuck down after a day or two.

how long did you leave it before you turned it back on??

unless you dried it out properly you may be blowing components with short circuits due to damp.

i would leave it a couple of days and open it up and air it out.

a lot of people just pour out the liquid...panic and plug it back in to see if there was any damage....exactly what you should not do.
