This one is really experimental compared to the last one. It has a bit more going on and I can't say I got the guitar tones right or anything like that. Anyways, might not be most folks cup of tea, but you can at least be thankful that I didn't do any cookie monster vocals LOL :thumbs up:

As always I'm open to suggestions.


 
You know...there is something about modern "punk" music that bothers me. They are usually too clean, the drums sounds too perfect and suddenly I feel like there is no thing like punk anymore. I mean listen to the Bad Brains or Black Flag, as I think they are a good reference for hardcore punk rock.

Your mix has a lot of that old school vibe that I love. Not a clean perfect mix, but actually a powerful noisy mix. Please dont consider noisy mixes a problem...I hope you get my point on that.

I think you did a great job on this mix. Punk rock shouldnt be clean fuckin sounding...IMHO.
 
Mix is great, no problems for me. I gave up trying to follow the guitars - they were way to fast for me lol.
I agree with CMolena - this sounds "right" to me.

Yeah I get you lol. It's what I'm going for, but I still want it to sound better than all that shit. It's amazing that you can get a better sounding recording at home these days than all those old punk albums. A lot of what I listen to is old DK, Circle Jerks, Misfits, UK Subs etc. From around that same era stuff like Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies etc. That's pretty much my influences, although on this song I also added some grindcore as well LOL. A little abstract noisy break down. Just what ever comes out is how the songs go I guess lol...
 
You're prolific Phil. I can't comment much on the song. It was...noisy, and had a lot of yelling. That was what you were aiming for, right? ;)
 
Good anti-drug song. Mix is good, but if you attenuated the 2.5 to 3k region a bit on the 2-buss, it would sound less "scratchy". Also could use a tad of reverb on vox, just for glue (but my tastes only).

I'll try that, but I only use Delay on vocals. I don't really like the sound of reverb lol
 
It's like you're writing about my life!
I liked it. I think it sounds exactly right for what it is supposed to be. I thought the vocals were perfect because the imperfections add to it for this song.
