Looking very nice mate - handy having an electrician in the family :)

I love the rope light idea - may I pinch it :D

cheers
john

Credit for the rope light goes to my "construction guy" Steve Chaisson. As for "pinching" it, by all means, go ahead! I would have been screwed if it weren't for your ideas John!

I'm not sure how they are in Oz, but up here in the Great White North, Rope Light is a "plug in" appliance. Upon advice from my father (again, that 'electrician in the family') I cut the cord off the end, and hard-wired it to a switch in an electrical box.

The main benefit (or detriment, depending on my mood) to having an electrician for a father was the fact that I was conscripted throughout my childhood to do electrical "grunt work." This included stripping wire and hooking up many, many outlets. Fortunatley, I managed to learn something in the process.

Oz,

It's lookin' great, mate.

That speaker the boombox is on............looks suspiciously like an old Sanyo.

Actually, it's even worse! It's from a 1979 Sears stereo! It still works, but lately we've been using it as a stool, stand & holder.

From the diamond style grille I was opting for a late 70's Sanyo.............it looks about the same size as the small quadraphonic speakers they made. Maybe Sears purchased from Sanyo.
