I've been recording on my old P2 266Mhz with 256 MB RAM....6 gig drive... a few years old....normal sound card (generic i think...lol)

But i've been reading posts and seen things like ways to tweak windows if you are using it for only recording..... what are those?!

I got WIN98....and all I need to use the comp for is for recording (with n-track)....and to keep it on my home network.

anything you guys can suggest (step by step would be the best)..lol

thanks again

Most tweaks are to fix problems are squeeze a little extra performance out of a box. That comp is so old I cant think of anything that will really help.

I was going to suggest a newer HD but that MOBO is probably ATA33 so it wouldnt help all that much.

Just make sure you don't have any other programs running in the background. You probably get about 8 tracks at once if your lucky, right?

i use n-track...and can get usually up to 10 tracks, no effects (it goes nuts with effects). After i record them hard onto that, i send it straight upstairs to my P4 to do my editing/mixing/etc. lol.

But yeah......eventually i'll be looking for a new comp for the price of 500 or cheaper...any ideas? lol

Well, it works for me. Anyway, on the ProRec site, do a search for Hard Disk Optimization. Good luck! :)
