does it matter if the speakers in a cab are behind the cutout circle, or resting on the cutout circle..

my fender openback combo had the speakers behind the cutout circles, but now im wondering if resting on the cutouts isnt a better way of doing it?

What so you mean by the speakers being behind the cutout hole?

He means the frame being mounted behind the baffleboard(the piece the speakers are mounted) or in front of it.

Saddlebacks, I don't know how it affects the sound, but mounting behind the baffleboard offers a little more protection to the speaker on a cabinet the uses grille cloth instead of a metal grille.
