frederic...

You're doing it allllllll wrong....

You are supposed to load all of those rack with gear before you start sanding the ceiling above them.... what's wrong with you!?!

Now your gear will be all nice and clean... and people will know you are a fake :)

ha ha ha. I can't even stand in there anymore, the dust cloud is so big. Fans in both windows blowing out, and its just such a mess. Masks, goggles, doesn't matter, I'm covered in this crap.

How about I test the rack with your gear :D

uhhh............ don't mean to be an ass or anything - but why don't you rent a drywall sander with a dust collector?

You leave almost nothing behind to clean with those.........

Rod

Sure... go out and purchase a couple new Avalon pre's etc for me... put them in your rack.... then donate them to me once you've finished sanding... I'll be happy to pay the cleaning expense if you pay for the pre's :)

Velvet

Or, you could all just send your better stuff to ME for safe-keeping, and when you're finished making messes I could send it back to you (fiendish laugh heard echoing in background, as no-name U-haul truck is being loaded, bound for undisclosed new address...)

Rod, if we did things RIGHT what would we have to bitch about here? :=)

(Name withheld to protect previously mentioned truck full of scammed recording gear)

Thats a good idea, didn't even think of it. This part of the spackling is just to clean up the area where the overheads and track lighting will go so I can install them and get the electricity live so i can stop tripping on worklight cords. But thats a good idea, when it comes time to do the whole place I'll definately rent one.

I did find out why the dust wasn't going anywhere... the two fans I had in the windows, one blowing in, one blowing out... well... I had the glass down behind them.

Duh.

Now I have "privacy glass" LOL

Whoa frederic.... that's a sign of tooooo much drywall compound vapor :) Not remembering to open a window before turning on a fan :)

I see how this works now.. Get the wife to do the sanding you don't like and she gets to say she helped....

nice plan.

that is until she realizes the cam is on....

we are experiencing technical difficulty.... please stand by...

Spackling?

WTF!!!

'round these hee-year parts we call that muddin', boy.

spackling.... sheesh!!

Yeah... for us too... spackle is that little jar of crap that you use to fill cracked plaster or nail holes etc...

mud is the stuff you cover drywall seams and screws with.

Yeah, she'll spackle and sand, except I have to turn off the camera, AND I have to sit there and keep her company and not do other stuff.

Not sure why, but hey, if it gets things done, I'll take a break and enjoy a frothy cool beverage :)

It says "joint compound" on the 5 gallon container. I have "regular" and "light". I have a feeling I'll never open the "light" LOL

Sooo, no takers yet on my "Equipment Protection Plan"? I am SOOOO crushed that nobody trusts me :=((

Frederic,
I found an alternative to renting the drywall sander. Home Depot or Lowes sell a drywall sander that has a hose coming out of it to attach to your shop vac. It uses standard drywall sanding screen. Works pretty good but you may have to reduce the shop vac hose down to the proper hose size with duct tape. I found my shop vac hose to be way too short but had an extra one lying around to use as an extension.
