Hi guys/dolls,
I'm a complete newbie, and I'm going to be recording mainly experimental rock, but I was listening to some Van Morrison LPs last night, and studying the mix and production.
It seems a lot of professionally produced records have a great sense of "space" - there are lots of instruments playing at once, but they all have their own space to work in and don't compete with each other. It's like you can "see" each instrument individually.
I was wondering if there were any hard and fast rules for making a good clear spacious mix, I realise it's probably a combination of factors but if anyone can point me at any good tutorials or articles I would be very grateful!
Merry Xmas
Alex
