I have two fairly small hard drives – an 8.5GB and a 13.5 GB – on my computer. And they are already half full with stuff I have recorded using a 16-bit soundcard. If I switch to a 24-bit card am I going to run into space limitations?

1 minute of 24/96 audio is 17,280,000 bytes or 17.3Mbytes. You can do the math from there....

If you are using HDs that small, it would lead me to believe you have a pretty dated PC. Did you even check if it will handle 24/96 hardware and software in a way that is acceptable for you to be productive?
