SP VTB1, price drop?

I have seen a couple of references to an impending price reduction for the VTB1. Anybody know when and how much? I am in the market for my first outboard pre, and (household finances being what they are) am very interested in this subject.
Also, anyone use one with an SM-81 or AT3035? How well do you think it does with these or similar mics?
