sp-dif ins on Audiophile

Hi All,

I have the Audiophile...and want to use the sp-dif ins for more tracks while recording. Would I be able to use the output of my Mackie in the sp-dif, or does the signal have to be digital? Is there some kind of preamp/ad converter that would do this?

Sorry to change the subject, but Im thinking of getting the audiophile. Can you tell me if you can record at 24/44.1 instead of 24/96 ???
