Although the mic sounds great, I'm getting enough, but barely enough, gain from my SP B1 through my Yamaha aw16g. I know an external pre would help, but I'm wondering if my choice of mic cable (20 feet of Monster 100) could be a culprit. Is there much difference in volume between cables, or are the differences limited to noise and frequency response?

Thanks for any, er, input.

J.

Yo jeffree! The cable, unless it's defective, is not your ptoblem. It would take a hell of a lot more cable than that to significantly degrade the signal of a lowZ mic. Either you have a defective mic, a defective cable, a defective front end in your standalone, or the pres in the yammy just suck. (the most likely reason) All of this is presuming you remembered to turn on the phantom power.-Richie
