I am looking to buy a new studio console. I am about to leave the digital mixing domain (hey Sonusman who would ever though me saying this) and invest in a (semi)big new recording console. The reason I am leaving the digital ones is because the current one is becoming to small, and I don't want to invest in something like a DM24. Then I'll have to keep searching beneath which piece of paper the damn thing actually is.
I do believe the right thing to do is upgrade to an analogue console. Now I have about euro 10.000 to spend.
I can buy a secondhand Soundcraft Solitaire 40 channel inline for this price.
it has 40 onboard dynamics and VCA style automation. I could upgrade to moving faders later. Are there people who worked with this console and have anything valueble to say about it.
This actually started as buying a complete Protools rig, but ended up in a strange way of upgrading the mixing console. I do have to buy secondhand because the money isn't there for buying such a degree of console new.
