I'd like to ask some tried advice. I am planning to do some sound isolation of my room (the size is written on the attachment). My room is all concrete, walls is about 4" thick made of finished hollow blocks and flooring is solid cement thickness is around 6-8". It sits on the second floor so beneath it is a room and above my room is a rooftop. My main concern is the sound that will go inside my room. I want to isolate my room as possible against the noise outside because I don't want those sounding environment included in the recording of my vocals. The studio will be used mainly on vocal recording.
I had a few plans in mind already but I am still doubtful about it I want the opinion of others about this. Ill draw a small illustration below.
WALL CONSTRUCTION
========= <-- Concrete wall
""""""""""""""" <-- Airspace about 1-2"
[]~~[]~~[] <-- Stud with 2" fiberglass insulation
---------- <-- 1/2 inch gypsum board attached to the stud
SUSPENDED CEILING CONSTRUCTION
======== <-- Concrete Ceiling
| | | | | | | <-- Airspace on suspended ceiling
~~~~~~~ <-- fiberglass insulation
----------- <-- 1/2" Armstrong Fine Fissured Acoustic Board
FLOOR
__________ <-- Carpet tiles
========= <-- Concrete Floor
MY QUESTIONS :
Q1 I want to know if my plan will be efficient enough for my needs. How many STC rating will my plan achieve.
Q2 Does the suspended ceiling with acoustic board tiles match or subdues the drywall ceiling.
Q3 What are the effects of my floor regarding the sound below it and outside the bldg. in regards with flanking.
