Please can someone help me?

when I record onto SF, the play back volume is really low. The vu's are registering at the right levels. But I have to increase the vol quite a bit. If I play Downloaded samples or loops there's no need to adjust the vol at all. Is it a sound card prob or will I just have grin and bear it. It's just a pain having adjust vol back & forward.

so if anyone has any ideas or pointers I would be grateful!!!!

(It's a Crystal WDM codec, I also use Acid 2.0 with same prob!!)

cheers

Check your soundcard's INPUT LEVEL.

You can get to it by clicking CONTROL PANEL, then SOUNDS and then you should see a properties tab for the sound card.

If you can't get to the soundcard's "mixer" section there, try CONTROL PANEL, then MULTIMEDIA - its in there somewhere...

Are you using the LINE IN or the MIC input on your soundcard?

What are you recording? Guitar? Voice?

I agree with Z, it is probably the first or all three of these problems.

Thanks to Zombie & Spinster for their help, got my prob solved.

My next question is about NI Reaktor 2.0.5 softsynth(I probably have to go to a different thread for this!!??). Does anybody know of a site/s for tutorials, manuals or .pdf for this gear. I used own a minimoog and a Prodigy about 20yrs ago but they got stolen(boohoo!) so I know my way about synthy synths. But this Reaktor lark is fine but could do with a wee pointer now and then.

thanks in advance

cheers
