I have used Soundforge in the past, but have gone on to Multitrack recording currently using a Fostex vf160.

My question is the Soundforge Normalize function - would this be an easy way of 'mastering' my final mixes from the multitracker? What i want to achieve is a home produced 'album' over the coming months, but I want all the songs to have similar volume levels to each other so they all sound like they belong. Will exporting to Soundforge and using Normalise achieve this - or am I wasting my time?

Between Normalizing and Limiting, you should be able be able to get pretty steady levels between songs. But that certainly shouldn't be confused with mastering.

I don't understand noramlize feature

What is the difference in the various compression types ?
Average RMS power vs Peak level ?
Should I scan levels first ?

Can you tell I'm dB challenged ? lol
