soundfont question

OK, I'm a newbie on this stuff and I know I'm using one of the "amatuer" cards (SB Audigy Platinum Ex) but I have several questions:

In CoolEdit where you set up what sound card, in the drop-down it lists SoundBlaster a couple of times, once with A00001 and again B00001 (these may not be the exact numbers since I'm not at home in front of the screen). What's the difference?

Also, I know using different soundfonts will give me better sounds but how do I get them and how do I install and use them?

If there is a web site that explains this stuff maybe you could point me there instead of me wasting your time.
