I've pretty much decided my mixer choice is either going to be a Soundcraft M12 or a Mackie 1642 VLZ Pro. Im pretty unbiased towards eitehr one but know absolutely nothign about mixers, i just know i want to start good so i don't have to buy another right after i learn basic recording.

Smoother sounding preamps in the Soundcraft.

lol so soundcraft over mackie....interesting

hmm, well i pretty much decided on soundcraft... until you said just kidding lol.

leave it to chessrock to throw a wrench in knowledge

If mixers were cars:

Behringer - Kia
Mackie - Ford
Tascam - Lexus
Soundcraft - Porsche
Allen & Heath - BMW
Neotek - Lotus
SSL - Ferrari

So the question is, would you rather drive a Ford Probe or a Porsche 911?

well, thats a really good analogy, i do those thigns all the time with guitars and drums and whatnot, BUT... i know nothing about cars lol. however, from the way it sounds, i think the porche would be better... afterall, that was a prize in the original nes wheel of fortune!

lol mackie ranks as a ford...."Fix Or Repair Daily" LOL hahahaha...oh wait a minute.....i drive a ford. kinda like kias though and would have too much fun running a porsche into the ground....hmmm choices

Actually the SSL is less of a Ferrari and more of a Mercedes.
Lots of bells and whistles but no Real horsepower.

Ferrari would be Neve 8068 :)
You need to find a spot for API's, Tridents and Helios :)

SoMm

i noticed honda wasnt on the list....they have pretty good gas mileage and are stylish....what mixer would be a honda?

My list was by no means comprehensive or necessarily correct. I agree with you about the SSL's 100%! :)

the E12 is a 14 channel mixer that runs about $429
