I'm buying a Delta 1010LT for 380 that is supposed to be really good. I believe if I'm not mistaken Gidge has one and likes it. It's got 10 ins and outs and MIDI, WC, and ADAT optic I/O. I think it's the same as the 500+$ rackmount only just in dangling cord form.

Do you still care about this? I've got that mixer. It's the only one I've ever owned or used so I can't give comparisons. And I've only had it a few weeks. I think it's going to be fine for making demos at home, which is all I want it for. The mic pres seem clean and good enough. The EQ with sweepable mids is good. I've put guitars, drum machines, vocals and a synth through and they all sound all right. I'm not sure how robust it will be. It's very light. The connection for the power cord is the flimsiest I've seen anywhere. The faders and knobs have a very cheap feel to them. The plastic on the faders is that brittle plastic. You soon forget about that when you're using it, though. Over all, I'm pleased with it. As a budget mixer, it will do.
