Hi guys,

I'm looking at one of these two mixers for live use with a PA system etc.

http://www.soundcraft.com/product_sheet.asp?product_id=148

or

http://www.mackie.com/products/cfx12mkii/index.html

I was also looking at the Yamaha mixers but they felt "cheaper" for the mixers in the same price bracket. Are the preamps in the Mackie as good as the Onynx preamps found in the next level of preamps?

The only thing I am really using this for is vocals and the occasional acoustic guitar/mic'd amp or snare/kick drum.

Thanks for your help with this. I have a behringer 2442fx but I've heard great things about both these models and if you have another suggestion please let me know.

Thanks :)

i generaly have liked the soundcraft mixers more... but i've been inside most of them so it's a different viewpoint than most... that being said at this price point i doubt there will be any substantial difference... so it's a toss up unless one has a particular feature that apeals to you... or a big price difference...

I was told, by a salesperson at a Mackie dealer, no less, that the China-made Mackie boards have similar drop-out-when-hot problems Behringer boards have.

ahh thanks for the information guys. I may be persuaded to go for the Soundcraft now. I appreciate the comments ;)

Thanks :D

I have a Soundcraft M8 that I bought about 6 years ago. Never any problems.
I am VERY happy with my Soundcraft board.

at this price point i doubt there will be any substantial difference...

Yup. All pretty much entry-level consumer stuff.

"I was told by a guy..a Mackie salesman no less"

Baaahahaha you can't be serious that you believe that. The odds of any salesman at any music store knowing anything of value along these lines are more than a billion to one. Really.

Maybe he hangs out here and reads these posts to educate himself?

I'd believe it, as it would not surprise me in the least to hear that the Mackies are built in the same facility as the Behringers now, by the same workers. Using the same parts.

I have A/B'ed the 808M from the two different eras, and it's night and day...
