Hey all,

I was looking at behringer mixers simply for the fact that they had direct outputs for each channel and thats what im really looking for in a mixer for recording drums. But then i realized that the most of the soundcraft mixers had the direct outputs. I realize most of the people here bash the behringer mixers, but hey, what can i say, it would do what i needed for the most part.

anyways, to my question...are the soundcraft mixers any better than the behringers? any opinions would be greatly appreciated

thanks

I think that the consensus here would generally be that any Soundcraft mixer is better than a Behringer, but they cost more as well. You might want check out the Soundcraft M-series as far as bang for the buck.

Scooter,

I had the same delima as you a little while back. I could not decide between going with the Behringer for the price or going with the more expensive Soundcraft. It seems as though some people like the Behringers and some don't. I bit the bullet and went with the Soundcraft Spirit M12. I am full satisfied with my decision. The Soundcraft is a pleasure to work with and sounds great! I didn't want to run into the situtation where I bought the Behringer and wasn't happy with it and upgraded down the line. I decided to go with the Spirit M12 over the M8, M4, because it has more channels (12mono, 4 stereo inouts and 4 stereo returns). Although most of the time I don't use but half of the channels, there have been a few instance where the extra channels have come in handy. Just this past week I was visiting a buddy to record some music. We had a drummer, Bass, two guitars, and keyboards all being recorded through the mixer to a PC in a live sorta fashion. 4 channels for drums, 2 for guitars miced, 1 bass, 1 stereo for keys, 3 vocal. It was awesome. If you can afford to spend the extra, you might want to go with the Soundcraft. I know mine will suffice for me live or in the studio for years and years to come. Good luck!

Usually the people who like Behringer have never used anything else. Those that have used something else usually hate Behringer.

I hear Behring and Mackie lumped into the same "crap" catagory alot- My next buy is a Soundcraft M-8- I hear good things about that- and they are actually cheaper than the Mackie stuff- I found a guy local that can get me the M8 brand new for $510- cant wait- Im orderin it tomorow
