i am pretty sure about this one, but just making sure..tubedude, or any of you guys who use one.

it says it has "Direct outputs ( pre or post fade ) on all mono channels" - so, on the M12 for example, you can send all 12 channels out on their own cable, into your recording device? It's 1/4" output i assume?

I don't actually have one, but I nearly bought one and am very familiar with it - and, yes, you're correct on all counts. Each channel has a direct out 1/4" plug, which are switchable pre/post fader PLUS a channel insert (as opposed to the small mackie and behringer mixers, which only have the channel insert - which is always pre-fader).

So, yeah, exactly, if you want to use this board as 12 different mic pres with 12 different outputs going to your digital recorder or some such - then yes, this does exactly what you want. Very nice mic pres in here, too, they're a great bargain. Really, really nice boards; I still want one even though I don't really need it!

Does using the pre fader option also set up the channel to be pre EQ? I know on the Mackie Onyx series all the direct outs are pre fade AND pre EQ. Anyone know if you can use the channel EQ and still use the direct outs with the M series?

Yep, the direct outs just bypass the faders and everything else in the chain is still active including eqs.

i use my m8 for extra mic pre-s. the direct out is a nice feature.
