Soundcraft Ghost MMC via midi jack w/ Mackie SDR

I am not having any luck getting my Mackie SDR 24/96 (24 track recorder) to link up with the midi automation on my 32 channel Soundcraft Ghost.
The manual shows the protocol for the Ghost and the OS version that works with certain systems, but will my Mackie SDR work with it?
Or do I need a midi interface, between the two of them?

A simple midi cord from the midi out of the Ghost to the midi in of the Mackie should be all you need. They no longer make the SDR24, but from the description on the Mackie site it does support MMC.

MMC is like midi clock in that it is not channel-specific, so you may need to flip a switch inside either unit --- either hardware or software --- to begin reception or transmission of MMC...
