I have a soundcraft compact 4 that I use for some on the spot recording with my laptop. I've been looking at some spirit notepads online and have been wondering if the preamps and the overall sound of the board is better? I know alot of people may not have much experience with these two pieces because I wasn't able to find much by doing a search. But any input would be appreciated.

I have the Notepad and it's pretty nice for its range. I use it for monitoring. Note that the headphone output is after the main output volume, so if you turn down the mains, you don't get any headphones. Pretty shitty. Other than that, it's nice. Sounds good too.

The notepad is a good monitoring station, except the problem described above. I love that it has 2 riaa phono preamps. I use that feature a lot to listen to my favorite recordings as they were intended. I dont really use the preamps ever. It is TINY and light, so I have it velcroed inside of my rack.

Thanks, I ended up ordering the notepad and maybe I'll get a chance to do some A/B comparing and post my findings.
