Soundcraft compact mixers

Is anyone familer with the Soundcraft compat range , either the EPM 6.

I currently use a Mackie DFX 6 which is quite good but only has a two band EQ on each channel, what are the mic pre's like on the Soundcraft?

I know they have two XLR outs.

I have started using active speakers now . If I was to buy a mixer that has line outs not XLR outs will that make a difference in the sound quality?

If the outputs are 1/4" TRS then it is the same as XLR, a balanced connection. If the are 1/4" TS then you might have noise issues as it would be an unbalanced connection. Most small mixers with 1/4" outs only are TRS they use the 1/4" to save space. You can use either a 1/4" TRS to XLR male adapter or a cable that is 1/4" TRS to XLR male and it won't make a difference as long as the output and input are both balanced.
