I don't know if buyibg a used soundcard may be a good option. Any suggedstion about a sort of warranty to ask for?

Three options:
1) Terratec EWS64XL for about 130 $
2) Event GINA (20 BIT!) for about 175$
3) Delta 44 for about 175$

Do you suggest to move towards a 24bit or 20bit is not so far away?

I'm starting setting up my own little home studio (I'm guitarist)
Thanks very much

Any of these will serve you well. Just try to get a warranty against being "DOA".
The higher you start recording in terms of bit depth, the more accurate your recording will be when converted to other formats or CD. So if you can go the extra for the Delta, it would be worth your while.

Good luck and welcome to the site.

Ok, Audiophile could be the best option, but please...I just can't realize the main differences between Delta44 and Audiophile.
I use to record max 2 in at the same time, don't need 100 in and 200 out, I think.
I need a versatile soundcard with good DA conv., midi (if possible, but I've it on the other s.card from Terratec (Solo)), in/out digital (I often plug in ext.CD/MD or possibly multitrack rec. from sessions with friends, and would be nice a break out box (I really get crazy pluggin in & out those plugs rattling under the table...).
Considering that I have much more to spenmd for other devices, I would like better a s.card like this.
Later, I may go for a super LAYLA or 1010, but now....?
thanks,

MAKE SURE YOU GET A WARRANTY. Or you will be sorry if you don't. :(

Good luck. ;)
